The Andaman Islands are located in the Bay of Bengal and form the western perimeter of the Andaman Sea. Measuring over 700 kms from north to south, including the inaccessible Nicobar Island chain, these 572 islands of the archipelago are swathed in over 86% primary rainforest. Only 36 islands are inhabited to the day, comprising a mix of colorful mainland Indian settlers, residual refugee communities from Myanmar, and of course the aboriginal inhabitants of the Andamans.

Tropical throughout the year with mean minimum temperature at 23C and maximum at 30C. Humidity is relatively high - 70% to 90% with a gentle breeze blowing all the time. The weather is generally pleasant with average annual rainfall of 3,000 mm in Port Blair.
Foreigners: All foreign nationals can stay in the islands for 30 days. This can be extended by another 15 days with permission. They require a permit to stay from the immigration authorities. In addition, permits can also be obtained from: Indian Missions Overseas, Foreigner’s Registration Offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta and the immigration authorities at the airports at Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai.

For night halt: South Andaman Island, Middle Andaman Island and Little Andaman Island (except tribal reserve), Neil Island, Havelock Island, Long Island, Diglipur, Baratang, North Passage and islands in the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park (excluding islands – Boat Hobday, Twin, Tarmugli, Malay and Pluto) Night halt in the Park is with permission only.
For Day Halt: South Cinque Island, Ross Island, Narcondum Island, Interview Island, Brother Island, Sister Island and Barren Island ( Barren Island can be visited on board vessels only).
Indians: Indian nationals need no permit to visit Andamans. However, permits are required to visit Nicobar Islands and other tribal areas, which are given in exceptional cases. Application on a prescribed form may be addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Andaman District, Port Blair.
•Ross Island is closed every Wednesday.
•Anthropological Museum is closed on Thursday.
•Fisheries Museum, Cellular Jail, Samudrika is closed on Monday and National Holidays.
•Chatham Saw Mill, Forest Museum and Mini Zoo is closed on Sunday and National Holidays.
•The Government ferry which is used to travel between Port Blair – Havelock takes between 02-03 hrs
Of travel time. The capacity of the Ferry is of only 100 passengers hence at times, getting a preferred seat is difficult though we will ensure that the guest is boarded on the ferry.
•No hotel on Havelock offers sea facing views. The beach is at an average distance of 200 m. Very few
hotels have generator backup.
